New Delhi: Flights were delayed while trains were running late as cold wave conditions along with dense fog persisted in the national capital. Schedule of around 10 flights were delayed which included Delhi-Shimla, Delhi-Kathmandu, Delhi-Chennai, Delhi-Jaisalmer, Delhi-Bareilly, Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Varanasi, Delhi-Srinagar, Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Guwahati, reported ANI. Similarly, around 26 trains from Delhi to were running late due to low visibility 

Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 5.9 degree Celsius with a visibility of 100 metres in Palam.

Amid cold wave and fog conditions, the national capital was also covered with smog as the air qaulity became severe in the national capital with an Air Quality Index of 421, reported ANI. 

As per a PTI report, the national capital saw around 50 hours of dense fog in January so far the maximum in the month since 2019, a senior India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said on Tuesday. “Delhi recorded a minimum temperature equal to or less than 4 degrees Celsius on 7 days (January 3 to January 9) in 2013, with the lowest minimum temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius on January 6,” he said.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, cold wave conditions have abated with no predictions of the same for the next four days. “However, dense to very dense fog and cold day conditions will prevail over many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday and will gradually abate thereafter,” it said.
