Abhinav Bindra, Olympic champion has appreciated BCCI for helping Rishabh Pant get proper treatment post his car accident. Bindra also said that the board should help him with psychological support also. Earlier, Pant was airlifted to Mumbai from a Dehradun hospital where he will receive further treatment for ligament injuries after he had a car accident on December 30.

“Wonderful that the board is looking after  Rishabh’s recovery. Must also provide psychological support as part of the healing and recovery process!” Bindra tweeted.

Shooting star Bindra won a historic gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle competition at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also runs the Abhinav Bindra Sports Medicine and Research Institute (ABSMARI) in Bhubaneswar.

“He will be admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute and will be under the direct supervision of Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, Head – the Centre for Sports Medicine, and Director – Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service at the hospital,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement earlier in the day.

“Rishabh will undergo surgery and subsequent procedures for ligament tears and will continue to be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team throughout his recovery and rehabilitation.

“The Board will make every effort to aid and expedite the recovery process of Rishabh and will provide him with all the support he needs during this period,” he added.

Notably, Pant was driving a Mercedes on the Delhi-Dehradun highway when he reportedly dozed off and lost control of the vehicle. His car flipped twice before catching fire, the police said. The cricketer was pulled out of the vehicle by a Haryana Roadways Driver Sushil Kumar and his helper Paramjeet who will both be rewarded under the Good Samaritan award of the Central government.
