New Delhi: The Indian team had a below-average run this year in 2022. They failed to get into the final of the Asia cup and then the same thing happened in the T20 World Cup 2022 where they lost the semi-final match against England. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, team India has been constantly struggling to create an impact.

To add to it, fans and former cricketers started debating after Yuzvendra Chahal did not play a single game in the T20 World Cup. He was a part of the squad yet he warming the bench throughout the tournament. Keeper batter Dinesh Karthik addressed the issue.

“These are all calls that are taken by the captain and coach with the belief they had in a certain player. To be fair, Ashwin started the tournament well but probably didn’t end well. But Chahal would’ve definitely made a lot more damage, it could’ve been an interesting choice. But hindsight is a very interesting thing to look at once the results come out,” said Karthik on Cricbuzz.

“All in all, if we look at the overall picture of the World Cup and Asia Cup, we expect a lot of better from Team India and that’s the right way to put it,” added Karthik.

The Men in Blue will be locking horns against the Sri Lankans in a T20I series from January 3. Hardik Pandya will lead the side.
